A small sensor for the leaks you rarely see
A slow leak behind a washing machine or under a cabinet can go unnoticed during a normal day. ZSE42 sits at the point where water is likely to collect and sends a detection event to your hub, helping bring a hidden problem to attention sooner.
What it does
- The compact body fits close to plumbing or beneath appliances where a larger device would be awkward. Position its sensing contacts where escaping water can actually reach them.
- A compatible Z-Wave hub turns leak events into phone notifications or other configured actions. An automatic shut-off needs a separate compatible valve actuator and a tested rule.
- The model has both legacy 700-series and newer 800LR versions. Battery type, enclosure size and water protection differ, so those specifications must follow the actual unit supplied.

Installation and compatibility
Pair the unit, place it on a flat surface at the likely leak point, and test a detection event before leaving it in service. For the 800LR version, the cover opens with the supplied round tool and must be closed correctly after installing the battery. Despite its IP66 rating, the current manual calls for protection from direct rainfall and sun; it is not a submerged water-level sensor.
Planning your automation
Consider the floor slope, cabinet base and appliance drip tray when choosing a position. Water may run away from a sensor placed only for convenience. Decide which household members receive the notification, and include a practical response plan.
